So we’re over halfway through this writing challenge and, while it’s definitely been a challenge to sit my rear in the chair everyday and write, I’ve really been loving it. I’ve realized how much writing helps me to process what God is doing in and around me. But by far, one of my favorite things has been interacting with all of you – through the comments, emails, Facebook messages – and the encouragement that can be found in this awkward little corner of the Internet.
I think, especially as women (any male readers, feel free to chime in here!), we underestimate our capacity to hold out hope for each other…just by opening up and being real, letting others in on our lives, and realizing that we’re not alone in the struggles and joys that we face. Sometimes, it feels easier to keep the walls up and power through the struggles alone, thinking nobody else would really understand.
And yet, when we begin to fully grasp how unconditionally we’ve been accepted by Christ (and it’s a life-long process), it becomes easier to let those walls down. Yes, the risk is still there of being hurt by someone who maybe doesn’t really understand. But that even happened to Christ. And more often than not? There’s a whole LOAD of others out there who DO get it, who are struggling with the same things, who have been where you are and have come through victorious on the other side and are more than willing to cheer you on through it. And THAT is what is so powerful about connection, about encouragement.
And that is what I have loved most about the writing and connections here this month.
So, as a little thank you, here’s a little giveaway (courtesy of the generous folks at DaySpring.com – a fabulous online community of encouragement for women) on the blog for the rest of this month.
Here are a few of my DaySpring favorites:
