An Anchor for the Soul

For when I lose sight of myself…my REAL self.  For when I lose sight of who my God is….who He REALLY is.

The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound…to comfort all who mourn…to give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit; that they may be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he may be glorified.   ~Isaiah 61:1-3

So this is me, preaching to myself:  Self, don’t forget.  Or, when you do forget (’cause you probably will…daily), come back to these verses.

Because God says:: That’s what I have for you.  Isaiah 61 is how I see you.  If you need vision, if you need purpose, always, always, come back to this.  I am inside of you.  I just need you to let me out.

Go ahead and be a cracked pot.  I leak out of cracked pots a whole lot easier than the perfect ones.  And don’t worry.  When you leak, when you pour out, I will fill you back up.  And not just to the brim….to overflowing.  So you can go ahead and leak out all over everyone again and again – and again.

Don’t be afraid of weakness.  Move forward in strength…Mine, not yours.  I see you as a bringer of good news, a binder of broken hearts.  In My eyes you are a rescuer, a comforter, a restorer of joy.

Stop looking through the eyes of others and instead, use My eyes to see yourself as you Truly Are.

Because that is how I, your Abba Father, see you.

    1. Hi Mimi! So nice to connect with a fellow book nerd! Ha. I didn’t realize there was a writer’s festival in Jackson…Do you have a link or any info on it? We’ll be heading to the beach so I’m not sure if I could make it, but I’d definitely be interested if it’s something they’ll be doing again. We’re in the Magee area…where are you? I can highly recommend Florida as well…born and raised! Thanks for stopping by…looking forward to reading your 31 Days as well!

      1. I’m in Clinton so not very far from you. The book festival is going to be awesome. They’ve brought in a bunch of MS and southern writers like John Grisham, Greg Iles, Julia Reed. All day event on the grounds of the State Capitol. Here’s the link to the book festival
Have a great time on your trip!

      2. Thanks for the info, Mimi! John Grisham…that’s worth it right there! My husband has an aunt and uncle in Clinton…we’re practically neighbors. *wink*
